OUR HISTORY
The purpose of National Charity League is to provide opportunities for
mothers and daughters to become involved in community service and also enjoy the
mother-daughter relationship in educational and cultural activities. At the
national level, National Charity League, Inc. is a non-profit organization as
defined under Section 501C3 of the Internal Revenue Code. NCL was founded in
1947 in Los Angeles, California by a local charity group of women. Since that
time, hundreds of chapters throughout the United States have affiliated with
National Charity League.
At the local level, the Colorado Foothills Chapter was founded on May 27,
2003 and in June of 2005; the Colorado Foothills Chapter of NCL received
their federal tax exempt status as a non-profit corporation with the IRS. The Colorado Foothills Chapter is the newest chapter to our state and
represents members who live in the "Foothills Community" (Evergreen, Conifer,
Lookout Mountain, Genesee and surrounding areas).
OUR PROGRAM
Each chapter of National Charity League encompasses a three-prong approach
that includes philanthropic, educational and cultural components. Chapters
consider their local community's needs and select philanthropies to support. A
goal of the Colorado Foothills Chapter is to satisfy the increasing needs of our
local community by providing dedicated volunteers who are compassionate about
serving their philanthropic community.
The Colorado Foothills Chapter has
assessed its community's needs into six different focus areas which are: 1)
Disadvantaged Families Assistance 2) Senior Citizens Assistance 3) Special Needs
Assistance 4) Education Assistance 5) Land Conservation Assistance 6) Local Arts
Community Assistance. The Colorado Foothills Chapter has provided
over 1800 volunteer hours of service during its first two years of
operation.
Girls (along with their mothers) may be a member of NCL during grades
7th through 12th. Every chapter has annual membership dues and fees along with
minimum philanthropic and league hour requirements. For Chapter Membership
